Delegation of the Croatian Halal Business Forum at the World Halal Summit in Turkey
Istanbul, 28 November 2022 (GIA) – The 8th World Halal Summit and the 9th Halal Expo of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) were held in Istanbul from 24 to 27 November.
Nearly 500 exhibitors from 40 countries took part in these two major gatherings focused on the global market for products and services compliant with Islamic guidelines (known as halal), while the four-day events hosted around 40,000 visitors, including 9,000 from abroad.
Regarded as the most important platform for commercial cooperation in the halal market, the exhibition aims to establish Turkey as the hub of the halal market, which is currently valued at more than USD 7 trillion.
“The market is expected to reach USD 10 trillion in the next five years. The halal economy will shape the global marketplace in the near future,” said Yunus Ete, head of the World Halal Summit council.
Dr. Aldin Dugonjić, director of the Halal Business Forum and head of the Halal Quality Certification Centre, presented halal tourism and sustainable tourism in Croatia.
“The development of halal tourism in Croatia so far, which in many ways supports the sustainable development of tourism—through new tourism products, added quality, fast-growing markets, year-round tourism, and the like—aroused great interest among participants,” Dr. Dugonjić highlighted.
Alongside presenting the third edition of the Halal Business Forum, scheduled for early October in Zagreb, Dugonjić extended an invitation for collective participation to countries such as Turkey, Qatar, Malaysia, Indonesia, Iraq, Iran, and many others.
