Delegation of the Meshihat visits BPJPH – the Halal Certification Authority in Indonesia
As part of their working visit to the Republic of Indonesia, the delegation of the Meshihat of the Islamic Community in Croatia, led by Mufti Academic Aziz ef. Hasanović, visited BPJPH (the Halal Product Assurance Organising Agency).
BPJPH is an organisational unit under the auspices of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, and its core mission is to ensure halal products and services within the territory of the Republic of Indonesia, both from domestic producers and from importers from other countries.
The aim of the meeting was to initiate cooperation in the field of halal product certification, along with an analysis of the possibilities for connecting the Centre for Halal Quality Certification from Croatia with an institution such as BPJPH, which is responsible for ensuring halal products in Indonesia. Such a connection opens up significant opportunities for Croatian companies, as presence in Indonesia would give them access to a market of more than 200 million consumers.
Mufti Hasanović presented the history and work of the Centre for Halal Quality Certification and expressed readiness for a partnership connection between the institutions. The host of the meeting, Mamat Salamet Burhanudin, head of the Halal Registration and Certification Department at BPJPH, presented the activities carried out by BPJPH, with an emphasis on certification processes that, through international cooperation, enable the import of products from numerous European and world countries into the Republic of Indonesia.
The meeting concluded with mutual satisfaction and the definition of next steps in developing cooperation. Accompanying Mufti Hasanović, the Meshihat delegation includes Dr Mirza Šabić, member of the Meshihat; Muhamed Mandžić from the Centre for Halal Quality Certification; and MSc Senad ef. Hevešević, chief imam of the Osijek Islamic Community.
