Dodijeljeni halal certifikati za četiri hrvatske tvrtke u sektoru prehrane i turizma
At the premises of the Islamic Centre in Zagreb, on 5 June 2025, the Centre for Halal Quality Certification held a formal ceremony awarding halal certificates to four companies that successfully implemented the requirements of the halal standard.
The halal certificates were awarded to:
- Cromaris d.d. – the leading Croatian producer of fresh Adriatic fish
- Glazir d.o.o. – a specialised company for food fillers and raw materials
- AC Hotel by Marriott Split – the first hotel of the global Marriott brand in Croatia with a halal certificate
- Grand Hotel View – a luxury hotel on the island of Brač, part of Jadran Hoteli
The companies were certified on the basis of clearly defined requirements of the halal standard, which include comprehensive controls in the segments of food, services, and quality systems. The certificates were formally presented to them as confirmation of their commitment to high standards and readiness to conduct business that takes into account the ethical and cultural needs of the market.
The programme was opened by Ms Enisa Botonjić, head of the Centre’s Education Department, and the following speakers addressed the attendees during the ceremony:
- Mr Muhamed Mandžić, acting head of the Centre for Halal Quality Certification
- Representatives of the certified companies: Mr Tin Rukavina (Cromaris), Mr Darko Glad (Glazir), Ms Ivona Buljević (Grand Hotel View), Mr Damir Lukić (AC Hotel Split)
- Mr Igor Božičević, acting director of the Croatian Standards Institute
- Ms Božica Marković, head of the Department for Fisheries and Wood Processing Industry at the Croatian Chamber of Economy
- Finally, Mufti Academic Dr Aziz ef. Hasanović, president of the Meshihat of the Islamic Community in Croatia, who concluded the event with closing remarks.
Mufti Hasanović emphasised that the Meshihat established the Centre to strengthen its institutional presence in the economic sphere, and that the results and visibility of this work are now highly recognisable.
Halal certification represents a comprehensive quality system that encompasses safety, traceability, ethics, and transparency. These are values that are increasingly in demand not only in the markets of Islamic countries, but also within the European Union.
The Centre for Halal Quality Certification thanks all the companies for the trust placed in it, as well as all partners and institutions that continuously support the expansion of the halal standard.
The event was also covered by the media of the Croatian Radiotelevision (HRT), thereby further contributing to raising awareness of the importance of the halal standard in modern business.
