Great potential of the halal market for Croatian companies
The delegation of the 3rd Halal Business Forum visited the Croatian Chamber of Economy, which was one of the partners of this largest halal event. The halal market is one of the fastest-growing markets today, and it is estimated that by 2028 the value of this market will reach 4.1773 trillion US dollars.
In the world, all large multinational companies have recognized the great attractiveness of this market. In Croatia, products and services of 85 companies carry the halal certificate, of which 61 are food manufacturers and 24 are service providers.
A meeting was held at the Croatian Chamber of Economy with representatives of the Iranian delegation participating in the work of the Halal Forum. They discussed the possibilities for enhancing economic cooperation between the two countries.
The Iranian market, with 80 million inhabitants, represents an opportunity for Croatian companies, while on the other hand, Croatia can be an entry point into the EU for Iranian products.
Total trade between Croatia and Iran last year amounted to 11.8 million dollars, which is almost two million more compared to 2021. Slightly less than half of that amount, 5.4 million dollars, relates to Croatian exports, which are mostly achieved through the export of blood preparations, vaccines and toxins, and unprocessed tobacco. From Iran, we mostly import cast iron and steel products, styrene and ethylene polymers in primary forms, and vegetables.
At the meeting, it was emphasized that there is particular potential for cooperation in the oil and gas sector, automotive industry, energy sector, shipbuilding, food industry, tourism, construction, and transport sector.
