Head of the Centre Participates in the World Halal Summit

The Head of the Centre for Halal Quality Certification, Assistant Professor Dr. sc. Aldin Dugonjić, participated online on Wednesday, 23 December 2020, at the World Halal Summit.

As one of the speakers, the Head spoke on the topic: “How Have We Forgotten Halal as a Universal Remedy?” Dr. Dugonjić began by thanking the organizer for the invitation and congratulating them on organizing the sixth summit, noting that recently, due to the situation well known to all of us, it is often—if not too often—said that we find ourselves and live in a “new normal.” “If we actually ask ourselves what ‘new normal’ means, does it mean that we should take more care of our health and pay greater attention to the transience of life and care for the elderly and those in need? Do we ask ourselves whether what came before was normal? I believe that every person has re-examined their life, meaning, and goals. Does history not teach us that since the beginning of humankind, people have gone through various adversities and managed to adapt to them and draw the best from them?”

He emphasized that when we analyze Islamic regulations, and above all the requirements and measures of the concept of halal, we can say that most of them actually guide us toward the preservation of health and life, starting from faith, prayer, patience, hygiene, fasting, as well as food and nutrition, etc.

At the end, the Head of the Centre concluded with sunny and warm greetings from Zagreb, stating that halal is a comprehensive guide for man’s transient life. “Therefore, by analyzing the basic elements of halal, we see that they are proactive–preventive in relation to human health and life,” he said.
