International Academy of Sciences, Arts and Religion Founded
On 22 May 2021 in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the founding assembly of the International Academy of Sciences, Arts and Religion in Bosnia and Herzegovina was held. The Academy comprises 11 classes and currently includes 90 scientists. One of the main criteria for membership is the number of scientific papers noticed worldwide, the quality of the journals in which they are published, and the number of citations evaluated by impartial and rigorous machines of international databases.
In his opening address, one of the Academy’s founders and its president, Academician Asim Kurjak, emphasized: “We have gathered here all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, all nations and nationalities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and we have obtained 11 foreign members, all top-level scientists—among them are 12 former rectors, 10 former deans, and 11 former ambassadors who have been cited more than 55,000 times—essentially an intellectual capital that reflects the power of any environment.”
“We have four classes that no other academy in BiH has: the classes for diaspora, religion, young scientists, and sustainable development.” “The goals of this Academy are to bring together all experts from our country and the diaspora and to ensure that their voices are heard, so that, as in the world, experts protect citizens from superficiality, from repeating history, and to enable better coexistence.” “Also, one of the basic goals will be caring, above all, for young scientists and artists originating from our country, who are scattered around the world, but about whom little or nothing is known in their homeland,” he stated.
In the Class for Religion, Mufti Academician Aziz ef. Hasanović was elected. In the Class for Young Scientists, MSc Nermin Botonjić, Secretary of the Meshihat, and Assistant Professor Dr. sc. Aldin Dugonjić, Head of the Centre for Halal Quality Certification, were elected.
At the founding assembly, the first issue of the Academy’s journal, titled Science, Art and Religion, was also promoted; it will publish scientific papers in the fields of science, arts, and religion.
